  • Evaluate the safety of your home: Determine whether it is safe to remain in the house or if evacuation is necessary. Look out for potential hazards such as structural damage, electrical issues, and slippery surfaces.

  • Beware of electrical hazards: Fire damage often compromises electrical systems, posing a significant risk of electrical shocks or fires. Exercise caution around electrical outlets, appliances, and exposed wiring.

  • Watch out for slip and fall hazards: Fire damage can result in water and debris accumulation, increasing the risk of slips and falls. Proceed with caution and avoid walking on wet or unstable surfaces.

  • Prioritize safe activities: Only engage in activities that are safe for you to perform, considering your physical capabilities and the condition of your surroundings.

  • Be mindful of heavy materials: Wet materials, such as waterlogged furniture and debris, can be exceptionally heavy and difficult to handle. Take precautions to prevent injuries, such as using proper lifting techniques or seeking assistance when moving heavy objects.
