  • Wipe down wood furniture after removing lamps and tabletop items.
  • Prop up wet upholstery and cushions.
  • Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
  • Utilize air conditioning for maximum drying during summer.
  • Remove colored rugs from wet carpeting.
  • Transfer art objects to a safe, dry area.
  • Gather loose items from floors.

What NOT To Do After Flooding:

  • Avoid leaving wet fabrics in place; hang up furs and leather goods.
  • Keep books, magazines, or other colored items off wet carpet or floors.
